Kody

 

 Orientation for the new missionaries and their trainers.

 Alan R. Walker and his wife who serve as the Area Authority Seventy for Kody’s mission area came to be a part of the mission Zone Conference.  All the missionaries were told to prepare a 3 minute talk on a chapter in the Book of Mormon and Elder Walker would randomly choose 2 missionaries to share their thoughts. As Kody was walking through the line of missionaries and took his turn shaking Elder Walkers hand, Elder Walker gripped it tighter and said “Elder Wastlund, that’s a nice name. Kody had the impression that he was going to be asked to speak, and he was. He wasn’t as prepared as he wanted to be but be thought it went well. 

Two days into their new area Kody and elder Douglas bumped into a woman named Margarita who had been baptized before Covid just before the churches shut down and she began caring for her mother. The stake president didn’t have a number to contact her and she kind of fell through the cracks. When she saw the missionaries and they stopped to talk to her she was so excited and said she loved the church. She explained where she lived and they made an appointment to visit with her the next week with the stake president. It was a small miracle. Even margarita said “it was the Design of the Lord” that they met.  Update she went to church and even gave them a reference:) That same evening Kody was walking with his new companion elder Douglas and asked him how he would contact someone. Just then Kody had the thought “I am just going to knock on this door right here and show him.” He knocked and a man with a beard down to his chest and a giant Mohawk answered the door.  Kody was so excited for transfers on Friday. He has been in Buin and zone leader for so long. It was sad to say goodbye to the ward members he has grown to love and elder Lonnecker, but he is excited for the change. He waited at the mission office for 5 hours for his new companion elder Douglas to arrive fresh off the plane. They were given the address to their new apartment and headed out on a bus. Kody is literally starting over. They are “whitewashing” the area so everything is brand new. He is excited to be training again without the added responsibility of  being zone leader.
